Odd couple: Ozomatli & Bush White House?
Ozomatli, the anti-war, L.A.-based Latino rock band, has formed an odd partnership with the Bush administration’s State Department, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The Department, along with a smattering of corporate sponsors, has commissioned the group to perform at concerts in the Middle East.
Saxophonist Ulises Bella called the collaboration a “cry for change all around.”
“Our world standing has deteriorated,” Bella said just before a concert for Egyptian orphans at a Cairo park. “I’m totally willing and wanting to give a different image of America than America has given over the last five years.”
